Desso/Philips Light Transmissive Carpet makes number 1 in Interior Design’s top 10

13 June 2014 - Desso, the global carpet, carpet tiles and sports pitches company made the number one slot in Interior Design's Top 10 at the NeoCon world trade fair in Chicago (9-11 June 2014) - The main commercial interiors related event in the United States and one of the largest in the world.

Interior Design magazine, the definitive resource for interior designers, architects, and other design professionals put Desso's Light Transmissive Carpet, a brand new innovation created with its partner Philips at the top of its list because it was the: "coolest product at NeoCon that went quietly under the radar: LED Master carpet by Desso with Phillips, which lights up from below thanks to special patented backing."

The new carpet unlocks the potential of LED integration into surfaces and adds an exciting dimension to interior design and space planning. The solution will transform the way people interact with information and their environment in offices, hotels, conference centres and other public buildings. These LED light emitting carpets will provide many benefits in interior design including information, direction, inspiration and safety.

Following a recent agreement with The Dixie Group, a leading US carpet company, Desso has stepped up its ability to reach the US market with its wide range of environmentally responsible and popular carpet ranges. Through  this agreement, Desso is working with Masland Contract, a division of The Dixie Group, strengthening its ability to sell top end Cradle to Cradle® products in the US.

Desso exhibited two other ranges at NeoCon to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in Creativity, Functionality and Cradle to Cradle®. 

  • Desso AirMaster®: Specially designed carpet tiles that are eight times more effective at capturing and retaining fine dust in the indoor air than hard flooring and four times more effective than standard carpets1. They contain up to 100% regenerated ECONYL® regenerated nylon yarn and is available with Cradle to Cradle® Silver Certified DESSO EcoBase® backing. The health benefits of this product resulted in it becoming one of Desso's top sellers.
  • Visions of…: an award winning carpet range inspired by the use of patterns in art, fashion, architecture and interiors. By applying cutting edge production technology and powerful pattern design, 'Visions of...' delivers a unique layered dimension, where the flooring experience changes at every angle it is viewed. It offers three unique designs in flowers, shards and lines.
