Desso, with headquarters based in the Netherlands, has
been certified to the AS 9100 Revision C by Lloyd's Register
Nederland B.V. Out of approximately 13.000 aerospace suppliers that
are certified under the AS 9100 Revision B standard, Desso is the
first carpet manufacturer in the world to have achieved this
Revision C certification for the aviation industry.
The AS 9100 certification is the international standard for
aerospace quality and enables companies to supply to the aerospace
industry. The new revision C is the most stringent version and
introduces additional requirements for aviation quality management
systems, including new requirements for measuring customer
satisfaction and managing product realization. The objective of
these additions is to create a more competitive and
customer-centric aviation supplier industry.
Due to its established focus on customer feedback, Desso was able
to implement any necessary additional measures in a relatively
short amount of time. At this moment, Desso is the only carpet
manufacturer and one of just 15 European and 117 aerospace
suppliers worldwide to have been certified under this new revision,
granted just four months after Lloyd's Register Nederland B.V.
gained accreditation to award this status.
A series of audits across Desso's entire Aviation division -
renowned for its design capabilities - resulted in a certification
for sales, development and production (including flammability
testing) of woven carpets for airplanes to customer specifications.
Commenting on the certification, Managing Director Hospitality,
Marine and Aviation Roland Jonkhoff says: "The good financial
results in the first quarter of 2011 (% compared to Q1 of financial
year 2010) indicate that Desso's Aviation division is growing. This
certification shows that our Aviation division has also grown to be
the customer directed organization we aim to be. While we will
always strive for even better results, the AS 9100 Revision C
certification is both a recognition for our internal organization
and the way we put our customers' needs first, as well as an extra
incentive to keep implementing improvements on a continuous
basis."
